This week our office reopened, and it is certainly nice to be back in the building. The building is very clean, and there are some new health measures that are visible when walking in the hallways and classrooms. There are hand sanitizing stations in every classroom and all throughout the hallways. There is plexiglass around the main office desk to protect Mrs. Bojarski and any visitor who walks into that space. We have contactless thermometers and self-certifications sheets. Every staff member present is wearing a mask. I look forward to the day when staff and students will be reunited in-person at our school.
I know there is still a lot of uncertainty. I have heard from several of you with your questions and your perspectives. I wanted to thank you all so much your your patience and understanding these past several months. I also wanted to extend my gratitude to those of you who have personally reached out to me to tell me that I was in your thoughts and prayers. This has not been an easy time for any of us, so I appreciate all of you so much for your caring and support.
Early on during the week of August 10, you will receive a welcome back to school letter from me through Blackboard. In that letter you will receive links to updated supply lists (if we do go remote) as well as some other information regarding the start of school. Also during that week, the parent portal will be opened up so you may be able to view your child's teacher assignment for the upcoming school year. I wanted to tell you this now because I have received several inquiries about supply lists. I would hold off on buying supplies until you receive my letter. If we are fully remote to begin the school year, you will have an updated list to work from.
Next week will be a planning week where I will be working with teachers and administrators on the start of school. If we are fully remote, we will work on those supply lists as well as beginning to create daily schedules for your children. When you hear from me the week of Aug. 10, you will find out more specifics about what that will look like at Terrace. So I ask once more for your patience. Our goal is to have this information in your hands early the week of the 10th.
Some of you received wifi hotspots from us in the spring due to connectivity issues you may have been having at home. If any of you didn't receive one then but need a hotspot now, or if you need a new or additional hotspot because yours broke or you have multiple children in the house, please call the office and let us know. I will get those for you.
Again, I wanted to express my appreciation for all of you. You kindness and patience has meant the world to me and to my staff. We miss our students so much, and personally, I cannot wait to interact with them in a couple weeks.
Stay safe, and stay healthy.
