We have a few new staff members I would like to introduce. Marion Greenwood is coming aboard as our new school social worker. Jocelyn Leving will be teaching part-time as an ELL resource teacher three days per week. Alexa Mazza will be facilitating speech services one day per week here at Terrace. Lisa Calvert will be starting the year as our art teacher as Mrs. Moravec will be on maternity leave. Finally, Janet Manna is moving over here from Chippewa to become our new administrative assistant. She brings years of experience to the building, and we are excited and happy to have her here. I hope you will join me in welcoming all of our new staff.
As you may have seen via our Facebook page, a WeatherBug weather station has been installed at the building. I will send a separate email with directions on how to download the app, but this will now give our school and your community the most accurate and real-time weather information possible. There is also a really cool weather monitor in the office, and I am looking forward to seeing how this will enhance our STEM curriculum.
Please note that Supply Drop-Off will be Thursday, August 18, from 1:30 - 3:00. This is an opportunity to bring in your student's school supplies to leave in the classroom so that they can come on the first day without worrying about all of that. I ask that you please remember that this is not a time for a parent/teacher conference. If you have the need to speak to the teacher in a more in-depth manner, I ask that you please make a separate appointment with that teacher. *Hopefully mid-late next week you will receive notification in the mail of who your child's homeroom teacher will be, as I know the kids are all anxiously awaiting that information.
Finally, Curriculum Night will be a little earlier this year, on Wednesday, August 31, from 6:00 - 7:20. More information will come home about it after the year begins. One thing I will share with you that evening is more details about one of our building goals of implementing common behavioral expectations for all students.
Internet Safety:
Families, as your children are getting older and are having more exposure online, a host of questions can arise about Internet safety. If you would like to learn more about what your children may be doing or what you can do as a parent/caregiver to protect them, please click here to read more.
Additional Notes:
- If you are on Facebook and would like to see what is going on at Terrace, be sure to check out the Terrace Facebook page. Pictures are regularly posted to better give you an insight into all the great things that go on at school each and every day. Remember to click the "like" button so our updates appear regularly on your feed. Or, under the school address near the top left of this page, you can click Facebook, and it will direct you straight to the page. My goal is for us to get to 300 "likes", so tell your families and friends to "like" our page!
- It is important for us to have a current email address and phone number for you at all times. If you want to ensure that you receive emails and notifications from Terrace and D62, please make sure our office has your most current email and phone numbers on file. If you send us your contact information, I ask that you please write very neatly so we can make sure we are entering the correct information in our student information system.
Have a great weekend!
