We are approaching our annual WINTER CONCERT! 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will perform this coming Thursday, December 17th, both at 2:10 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. (please arrive promptly at 6:15pm and report to classrooms). If your student cannot attend the evening performance, please let Mrs. Prost know ASAP ([email protected] or by written note by Wed.12/9 at the latest).
Friday Fruit Fun! I wanted to thank our food service provider, Arbor Food Services, who helped to get us fresh apples for any student who wanted one for their snack today. Nearly EVERY student asked for one! Mr. Mark and I had fun with our special deliveries!
Families, as your children are getting older and are having more exposure online, a host of questions can arise about your child's Internet safety. For the next several weeks, I will use this message to link you to a website that may help as a resource for you to further investigate questions you may have about what your children may be doing online or with the cell phones. This week the focus is on cell phone parenting. Parents, for those of you whose children have iPhones, it is important that you read the part about about setting parental restrictions on your child's phone (near the bottom of the page). Please click here to read more.
The Early Learning Center is having a toy drive for their students. If you would like to donate, please feel free to bring something in and leave it in the yellow bin that is in the family waiting area next to the office. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
As the air is getting colder, please remember to send your students in the appropriate clothing for the weather. If we go out for recess and there is still snow on the ground, make sure your children have boots, snow pants, gloves, hats, etc., or they will have to stay on the blacktop. Thanks!
PTC News:
- Also, PTC is holding a contest from now until Winter break for the class that turns in the most box tops! There will be a 1st and 2nd place winner! Please fill out the sheets that went home last week and send them back full of box tops!!
Girls Scout News:
- Girl Scout Troop 40391 out of Terrace Elementary School is participating in The Blanket Brigade again this year and is asking for any and all help in collecting new fleece blankets for Lutheran General’s Children Hospital. They will be collecting blankets until the end of November, so there's plenty of time to get some fabric and make some blankets. JoAnn’s fabric has fleece on sale plus an extra 20% off of total purchase coupon. If you check out blanketbrigade.blogspot.com you will find all the details on this wonderful project and all the instructions on how to make these blankets. If you have any other questions please email Lesley DeRusha at [email protected]. They are hoping to have a blanket-making party coming up soon, so keep an eye out for more information.
If you are on Facebook and would like to see what is going on at Terrace, be sure to check out the Terrace Facebook page. Pictures are regularly posted to better give you an insight into all the great things that go on at school each and every day. Remember to click the "like" button so our updates appear regularly on your feed. Or, under the school address near the top left of this page, you can click Facebook, and it will direct you straight to the page. My goal is for us to get to 300 "likes", so tell your families and friends to "like" our page!
It is important for us to have a current email address and phone number for you at all times. If you want to ensure that you receive emails and notifications from Terrace and D62, please make sure our office has your most current email and phone numbers on file. If you send us your contact information, I ask that you please write very neatly so we can make sure we are entering the correct information in our student information system.
Congratulations to Mr. Becker's class for earning the Courageous Cardinal!
