I would also like to welcome Mr. Jesse Roy, who will be joining the Terrace teaching staff next year teaching in our new BEST classroom. He comes to us from Cumberland Elementary School here in D62, and he, too, brings a wealth of experience working with students who have special needs.
Thank you to all who helped out during Field Day! A very special thank you to Mr. Lair, our student P.E. helpers., Mr. Mark, and the entire Terrace staff for their help and flexibility. What a perfect day we had for fun in the sun!
Please remember that the PTC Variety Show is tonight at 7:00 p.m. It looks to be a wonderful show!
Next year, one small change will be that third graders will go back to eating lunch and going to recess with the fourth and fifth graders. We made a change this year to try and open up the gymnasium earlier for Mr. Lair. As it so happens, next year this will not be needed, so we will be going back 3rd eating with 4th and 5th.
Additionally, next year we will begin the school year with students lining up outside every morning upon their arrival to school no earlier than 8:45 a.m. We will again bring them in during the winter months as we did this year. I know several people wondered why they never lined up outside again this year. The reason being is that the supervisors and I felt that we had many less behavioral issues with students and they were more quickly able to get into their classrooms to begin learning each day when they came right into the building every morning. Next year we will continue to investigate the pros and cons in how we have students arrive to school. If any changes or decisions are made, I will let you know. Again, for next year, we will go back to lining up outside in the mornings before school and coming in during the winter months.
Next Wednesday, June 10, is the last day of school. Dismissal will be at 3:15 p.m. Students will bring home their report cards and other school materials to take home with them for the summer.
