This week was our final week of in-person learning until the beginning of the adaptive pause our district will be taking until mid-January. Starting November 30, all students will go back to full remote learning. I am extremely proud of our staff and students, as we have demonstrated that we can safely and successfully bring students back to school. Thank you for being so patient with us and for working with us. Our parent and family community has really helped us to make all of this go a lot smoother than we could have possibly imagined. Please remember, we are here for you and your families if you need us. If you need a wifi hotspot or cold-weather apparel such as coats, gloves, etc., please let us know.
If you recall, in the past, every Friday we would acknowledge our students who consistently demonstrated our expected behaviors (Be Safe, Be Ready, and Be Responsible). I would often put a picture of our students here on this page and on Facebook for all of you to see. Well, since we have some students here in person and some at home remotely, we came up with a different way to acknowledge our students. Please click here to view our new Cardinal Call Outs. Congrats to the students who have been recognized this week!
A special thank you to our PTC for bringing us a virtual cultural arts assembly this week. Our students LOVED JG's Reptiles. It was an added bonus that all of the remote and in-person students could enjoy the show. We would also like to thank our PTC for providing our staff a Panera lunch this week. It was a special treat and a nice send-off before the break. Thank you for all you do for us and our students!
Finally, today you will receive an email from Mrs. Bojarski containing your child's first trimester report cards. If you encounter any technical issues, please email her at [email protected].
Don't forget that there is no school next week, and beginning November 30, all students will be learning remotely.
Stay safe and healthy during the holiday next week!

Materials Pickup:
Our next pickup will be Thursday and Friday, December 10 - 11. We will be adjusting the times a little bit to account for more families needing to pick up materials as well as it is now getting darker earlier. The times will now be 2:30 - 5:30. Your teachers will send you reminders when these dates get closer. If you cannot make one of the timeframes listed below, we will do our best to work with you. Please contact your child's teacher(s) or the main office to arrange an alternative time. Please see the information below for your planning:
- Schedule
- December 10 - Grades K-2 from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m.
- December 11 - Grades 3- 5 from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m.
- Procedures
- Families will pull up in the front circle in their cars. Please do not walk-up to the building.
- Cars should have signs with student names and teacher names clearly visible for staff to see easily.
- Staff will bring new materials to car and collect prior materials along with the bags you initially received.
- For families with multiple students, you can pick up materials on one day. That day will be the day you pick up for the youngest sibling.
Remote Learning Tips:
- Prepare a quiet learning space to support your child’s focus on school.
- Organize learning materials to ensure they are easily accessible for your child.
- Post your child’s daily schedule in an easily viewable section of their quiet learning space.
- Always encourage your child to do their best in everything in which they are engaged.
- Ask for help from the teacher if your child needs more support to learn.
- Ensure your child maintains a respectful and kind demeanor with their teachers and peers every day.
Food Distribution:
As District 62 transitions to an adaptive pause on November 30, we wanted to share an update regarding our food distribution.
Meal packs containing several days of food will be distributed in boxes on Friday, November 20th at Algonquin Middle School from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
No meals will be distributed the week of Thanksgiving: Monday, November 23rd through Friday, November 27th.
Starting on Monday, November 30th, boxes containing meals for a week will be distributed every Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Algonquin Middle School. Should you not be able to pick up meals at that time, you may call the kitchen office at (847) 789-5630 on Wednesdays between 11:00 a.m. and noon to arrange for the pick up of emergency boxes.
Meals will be provided to any child (age 18 and under), regardless of financial need. Child(ren) does (do) not have to be present when picking up meals. Transportation will not be provided.
We appreciate our partnership with Arbor Management in continuing food service to our students.
D62 Technology:
The District Technology Department is pleased to announce they have expanded their technology support hours into the evenings on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
