For those students whose families have chosen to return to school for in-person learning, the first wave of students will return on Wednesday, September 30. That date is set aside for kindergarten, first grade, and Structured Teaching (STEP) students only. Grade 2-3 students will return on October 14, and grades 4-5 students will return on October 21.
Due to all of the various safety protocols in place to receive our returning students in a safe manner, the beginning of the school day may start a little later than usual for our remote learners still at home. Transitions such as the lunch/recess hour may also run a little behind due to hand washing and washroom breaks.
We ask for your patience and understanding as it may take a few days to establish a routine that will go more smoothly with each and every passing day. We will do our best to communicate with you when we may run a little behind schedule or if we need to adjust our schedules due to transitions such as arrival, lunch/recess, and dismissal. We will try our very best to avoid any disruption to the remote learning experience and schedule for our at-home learners.
I have sent a letter to our returning kindergarten, first grade, and STEP families earlier today outlining our arrival and dismissal procedures. Next week those families will receive a communication regarding the student self-certification process. If you did not receive it, please email me so I can email it you ASAP.
Please note that if you chose for your student to remain in remote learning, you must stick with that choice until the end of the first trimester. At that time you will have an opportunity to opt into in-personal learning if you choose to do so. If you are a kindergarten, first grade, or STEP family member and are unsure of your enrollment choice, please call Mrs. Bojarski on the office at 847-824-1501. She will be able to verify your enrollment.
Once again, I appreciate your patience as we continue to navigate this unprecedented time together. Our goal is to keep our students and staff as safe as possible while they are in the building, and we will work together to meet any and all challenges that may arise.
